O ver 3,000 visitors attendedInterfiliere Hong Konglast month, meeting with 130 exhibitors from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, South East Asia as well as Europe and soaking up valuable insights, information and inspiration from the show’s various seminars held during the two-day trade event.

The “Day & Night”-themed trend forum and the “Feminine Sports” fashion show that took place around the forum were the trend attractions of this edition. Squirting Dildos and exhibitors enjoyed the prototype fashion show showcasing creative sport inspired outfits created by the students of the Polytechnic University and OEM manufacturers Lico and Tengfei.

On Small Dildos and Probers , more prototypes were presented. Those creative designs were made by the students of Shih Chien University of Taiwan. The Playful Reflections installation from Mon Leung, head designer of Pioneer Elastic (HK) on the side of the forum brought a fun and colourful artwork for visitors to take in.

Interfiliere Hong Kong has been an inspiring show for designers and buyers when it comes to trends. This edition, Jos Berry and Jennifer Wigham from Concepts Paris and Edith Keller from Carlin International brought visitors their trend seminars for Autumn/Winter 2016/17.

Additionally, for Spanking Paddles in Hong Kong a trend workshop took place on both days and the feedback was unanimously positive. Working in a multicultural team with people from different companies and with different perspectives during an afternoon gives designers, buyers, product managers and R&D managers new insights into how trends, collections as well as teamwork should be done to be successful in the intimate apparel and swimwear sectors.

The continuous development of South East Asia for sourcing and manufacturing is becoming more and more visible; there was a remarkable progression in the visitors from the Philippines and Vietnam.

Africa has been an interesting country with a growth in visitors from South Africa and following some conversations during the show days; the development in the next few years will be noteworthy. Kenya is also a newcomer in the visiting countries list. Japan has been a leading country when it comes to fashion and intimate apparel. This year, the visitors’ rates doubled.

This edition the show brought a special focus on sportswear including yoga-wear and leisurewear. This new focus tripled the amount of visitors from Australia and visitors from New Zealand attended for the first time.

Chinese New Year, which fell on February 19 this year, had an impact on the presence of Mainland Chinese visitors. As most companies resumed work early March, they sent smaller teams to the show, which reduced the number of Mainland Chinese visitors.

Due to the international issues and economic situation of certain European countries the attendance of visitors were prevented from attending. We saw a decrease in visitors from Eastern Europe and Baltic States as well as France.

On a more positive note the majority of leading brands from the intimates apparel sector and swimwear sector all travelled to the show, but reduced the size of their teams.
